SERC News

The SERC Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cease SERC operation effective June 30, 2004. Since its inception in 1989, SERC has strived to deliver quality credit courses and professional development that meet the needs of students throughout the United States. We feel good about what we have accomplished, but none of it would have been possible without your cooperation and hard work. It has been our privilege to work with you over the past fifteen years.

The good news is that you will still have access to the high school credit courses except Spanish. ETV of South Carolina has made the hard decision not to continue production of Spanish. However, VSEN and KET will offer their courses for academic 2004/05.

To register for Japanese please contact The Virginia Satellite Educational Network (VSEN.) The Japanese courses will continue to be offered via C-Band analog satellite and Internet video streaming. Tuition for non-Virginia students will be $375 per student. For more information, please visit the VSEN website at: http://www.vsenvirginia.org.

To register for Latin, German, physics, and Humanities Through the Arts, contact Kentucky Educational Television (KET) at 800-333-9764. Ask for Kathy Quinn, Sharon Bennett, or Jane Ireland. Tuition for non-Kentucky students is based on the number of students your school enrolls. For 1-5 students, the fee will be $500 per student per course; for 6 or more students, the fee will be $475 per student.

Together we have accomplished great things for our students. We wish you all the very best and brightest future as you seek to ensure that standard of excellence continues.
